WPL 2024 Auction: 104 Indian Players In List; Deandra Dottin of the West Indies and Kim Garth of Australia Top Charts With Highest Base Price


<p><strong>WPL 2024 Auction:</strong> The TATA Women’s Premier League is getting ready for its second season, and interest has grown since the player auction list was released. The event is expected to take place in Mumbai on December 9, 2023.</p>

<p>With a starting price of INR 50 Lakh, Australia’s Kim Garth and former West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin top the group. Adjacent are four international players who have a base price of INR 40 Lakh: Shabnim Ismal, an exciting pacer from South Africa, English wicketkeeper Amy Jones, and Australian all-rounders Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham.</p>
<p>A total of 165 players, including 104 Indians, will compete in the auction for a maximum of 30 spots spread among five teams. Just nine of these are set aside for players from other countries.</p>
<p>With a base price of INR 30 Lakh, players that were snubbed in the WPL 2023 return, including English opener Danni Wyatt, Australian prodigy Phoebe Litchfield, New Zealand speed phenomenon Lea Tahuhu, captain of Sri Lanka Chamari Athapaththu, and Indian finisher Veda Krishnamurthy. Tammy Beaumont has also joined the competition as a batter-wicketer.</p>
<p>Some players with a combination of Indian and international quality are valued at 30 lakhs in the auction list. Priya Punia, Punam Raut, and Devika Vaidya are three Indian players who have registered themselves in that price range in the batting category.</p>
<p>The capable Meghna Singh and the seasoned Danielle Gibson are up there in the all-rounder division with a reserve price of 30 lakhs each. Prominent figures in the bowling category include Gouher Sultana, Preeti Bose, and Ekta Bisht.</p>
<p><strong>Teams Having Salary Cap Situations & Squad Sizes:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Delhi Capitals (DC):</strong> 15 players, including 5 foreigners, have spent a total of INR 11.25, and they have a 2.25 salary cap available. Three spots are available, one of which is reserved for players from abroad.</p>
<p><strong>Gujarat Giants (GG):</strong> three foreign players among the team’s eight players. With a high salary ceiling of INR 5.95, they have already spent INR 7.55. The league offers ten spots, three of which are reserved for international players.</p>
<p><strong>Mumbai Indians (MI):</strong> A 13-player team that spent INR 11.4 total, including 5 international players. They have five open berths, one reserved for players from outside India, and a wage ceiling of INR 2.1.</p>
<p><strong>Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):</strong> 11 players with a combined outlay of INR 10.15, including 3 international players. RCB has seven open spots, three of which are reserved for international players, and a wage limit of INR 3.35.</p>
<p><strong>Uttar Pradesh Warriors (UPW):</strong> A 13-player team that cost INR 9.5 total, including 5 international players. There is a 4 rupee salary limit at UPW and 5 spots available, 1 of which is for international players.</p>
