Bengaluru, April 13, 2026:The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Bengaluru Campus, inaugurated its newly developed Outdoor Sports Complex and campus cafeteria on April 12, 2026. The occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Director, Prof. Harish Hirani, along with faculty members, staff, and students.
The event commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, during which Prof. Hirani dedicated the sports complex to the student community. In his address, he emphasized the importance of physical fitness, sportsmanship, and overall personality development as essential components of quality education.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Hirani highlighted that the Outdoor Sports Complex reflects RGIPT’s sustained commitment to creating a balanced academic ecosystem that promotes both intellectual excellence and physical well-being. He noted that such initiatives are aligned with the institute’s vision of nurturing future-ready professionals equipped with leadership, discipline, and resilience.
The newly inaugurated facility features modern infrastructure to support a wide range of outdoor sports and recreational activities, encouraging active student participation, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
In addition, the Hon’ble Director inaugurated the new campus cafeteria, thoughtfully designed to provide students and staff with a comfortable and vibrant dining environment. Developed over an area of approximately 2,100 sq. ft., the facility is equipped with modern amenities and offers a diverse range of nutritious food options. It is envisioned as a dynamic space that fosters interaction, relaxation, and community engagement.
The cafeteria also incorporates essential support services, including photocopying and colour printing facilities, with provisions to accommodate additional need-based services as required from time to time.
The event also included an interactive session with students and faculty, where future plans related to campus development, infrastructure expansion, and student-centric initiatives were shared. A media interaction session provided insights into RGIPT’s growth trajectory and its commitment to excellence in education and innovation.
The inauguration of the Outdoor Sports Complex and cafeteria marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of the RGIPT Bengaluru Campus as a center of excellence that integrates education, infrastructure, and student well-being.
